Common questions on Israel take-home pay

A gross of ₪200,000 for 2026 leaves roughly ₪152,000 a year, about ₪12,667 a month. Income tax takes around ₪25,000, Bituach Leumi about ₪10,000 and health tax a further ₪5,800.

Across all three that comes to an effective rate close to 24%.

National Insurance contributions for 2026 split at 60% of the average wage, roughly ₪67,000 a year:
Below that line: 0.4% from the employee
Above it: 7%, up to the contribution ceiling

Health tax, mas briut, follows the same split at 3.1% under the threshold and 5% over it.

Relief in Israel comes through nekudot zikuy, credit points, each worth ₪2,904 a year in 2026. Every resident employee receives 2.25 points as standard plus 0.25 of a point for residency.

Women get half a point more, taking them to 3 points, a credit of roughly ₪8,712 a year.

Israel has one of the densest technology sectors in the world, with Tel Aviv among the leading startup hubs anywhere. Engineers and other technical staff routinely earn between ₪300,000 and ₪800,000 a year.

Even at ₪500,000 the effective rate only climbs to about 35%, below what the same salary would attract in the UK or across much of western Europe. Worth noting: RSUs and share options, which feature heavily in these packages, follow their own tax rules and are not covered here.
